Srikrishna Committee comes out with 6 options

New Delhi: 28 January 2043

The Justice Srikrishna Committee, which held wide consultations all over the globe in the last 30 years to decide the number of days in a month, has offered half-a-dozen options on which the government may take a call in about another thirty years.

The committee, headed by the former Supreme Court judge, Justice B.N. Srikrishna, is believed not to have equivocally recommended any particular option but gave views — with the pros and cons along with the historical background — in each of the six options.

Well placed sources here said on Noday that the committee felt Finland will be ideal place to define a month, as a quarter of country’s territory lies north of the Arctic Circle and at the country's northernmost point the sun does not set at all for 60 days during summer. The committee also suggested the extreme sites of the poles where the sun can be continuously visible for a half year. Which means a day at the poles is equal to a year in India. And, a month of thirty days there is equal to thirty years at our region.
